Bedale pharmacy gives Chancellor Rishi Sunak his flu jab

Peter Horrocks gives Rishi Sunak his flu jab at Mills Pharmacy in Bedale

Mills Pharmacy in Bedale has provided the Chancellor and local MP Rishi Sunak with his annual flu jab. Bedale falls within his Richmond constituency in North Yorkshire.

Rishi Sunak, whose mother is a pharmacist and a director of Sunak Pharmacy in Portsmouth, said: “I have a great passion for community pharmacy and the ease of access it provides to our local communities. I would like to encourage anyone who is eligible, to get their jab.”

Mills Pharmacy is part of the Knights Pharmacy group, an independent pharmacy chain with 70 pharmacies across England and Wales. Peter Horrocks, superintendent pharmacist, said: “We would like to thank Rishi for taking time from his busy schedule to visit our pharmacy and highlight the importance of not only receiving the flu vaccine but doing it early before the busy winter period sets in.”

The pharmacy is offering a ‘no appointment necessary’ service for both NHS and private vaccinations.

The NHS has warned that since Covid-19 is likely to be co-circulating with flu, protecting those at high risk of flu, who are also those most vulnerable to hospitalisation as a result of Covid-19, is vitally important.
